In an interview granted to The Times, actor and director Seth Rogen shared sensitive details about the upcoming season of the Hollywood satire series ‘The Studio’. The show, which already collects awards, will dedicate part of its new cycle to the memory of Catherine O’Hara, who played the beloved Patty Leigh and was posthumously honored with the Actor Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. O’Hara died at 71, in January 2026, due to complications from rectal cancer.
Rogen described the return to set as “an unbelievable challenge”, highlighting the emotional weight of continuing production without the actress who, according to him, was the “anchor” of the storyline. “We wrote thinking she would still be here. Everything was ready, and her absence reverberates in every scene of the new season”, the creator explained. He added that, although the series usually avoids very heavy topics, the loss will be subtly woven into the plot, reflecting the reality of dealing with grief.
The series follows Matt Remick (played by Seth Rogen), a newly promoted executive at the fictional Continental Studios, who must balance corporate pressures, inflated celebrity egos, and the pursuit of creative innovation in a constantly changing landscape. The core cast includes Chase Sui Wonders, Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz and Kathryn Hahn, who will return to face the new challenges brought by O’Hara’s absence.
