Lucasfilm postpones production of “Maul – Lord of the Shadows” to secure Wagner Moura’s participation

Wagner Moura was integrated into the Star Wars universe as Brander Lawson, a police officer who takes a central role in the new animation “Maul – Lord of the Shadows”. The decision to postpone the series was made by Lucasfilm to wait for the actor’s availability, who recently garnered attention for his performance in “The Secret Agent” (2025).

Lawson, captain of the security force on the planet Janix, is described as a pragmatic detective who fights for justice without sympathizing with the Empire. When Darth Maul arrives in his world, he leads a covert mission to prevent Palpatine’s forces from dominating the still not fully subjugated region. Sam Witwer’s return as the voice of Maul brings a new perspective to the villain, intensifying the atmosphere of crime and intrigue in the galaxy’s underworld.

The first two episodes are already available on Disney+, and the series will continue with double releases on Mondays at 4 a.m. (Brasília time). Lucasfilm has already confirmed that a second season is in development, even before the premiere of the first.
