Marvel Zombies confirms second season: details from Marvel Studios executive

Brad Winderbaum, who oversees streaming, television and animation at Marvel Studios, revealed in an interview on the podcast The Escape Pod that the animated series Marvel Zombies is headed for a new season. The show, which premiered on Disney+ in 2025, presents an alternate universe where a zombie outbreak hits the most well‑known heroes.

Although there is not yet an official statement from Marvel, Winderbaum assured that production is already in its early stages, with writers working on the first drafts. He described the material as “insane” and promised developments that go beyond the traditional zombie confrontations, introducing brand‑new elements to the MCU.

The storyline unfolds after the events of “What If…?” , depicting a devastated world where a few survivors—such as Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Shang‑Chi, Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) and Jimmy Woo—form an unlikely alliance to face zombified versions of former Avengers. Unlike other Marvel animations, Marvel Zombies adopts a darker, more adult tone, being rated for viewers 18 and older due to graphic violence and intense horror.

The series is part of Marvel’s new multiverse phase, potentially connecting in the future to projects such as “Avengers: Secret Wars” and other stories that explore alternate realities. Marvel Zombies remains available on Disney+.
