A post by Robert Downey Jr. on social media, published on Easter Sunday, reignited fans’ theories about Marvel’s upcoming film, Avengers: Doctor Destiny. In the photo, the actor presents a basket of eggs decorated with Marvel universe symbols. Among the details, followers identified icons associated with Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, characters that are not yet on the official cast list.
The basket also includes references to other heroes and teams, such as Ant-Man, Namor, Black Panther, the New Avengers, Captain America, X-Men, Shang‑Chi, Thor, the Fantastic Four, Loki and, again, Spider‑Man. Despite the excitement, Marvel has not yet confirmed the presence of these characters in the film.
The speculation gained even more momentum when actress Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, gave evasive answers to questions about her involvement, suggesting there could be a surprise appearance, possibly in a post‑credits scene, setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars.
The already announced cast of Doctor Destiny includes names such as Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Paul Rudd (Ant‑Man), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Simu Liu (Shang‑Chi), among others, as well as Robert Downey Jr. as the titular villain. The Russo brothers return to directing, as they did in Infinity War and Endgame. The film is slated to debut on December 17, 2026, followed by Secret Wars on December 17, 2027, concluding MCU Phase 6.
