Eric Kripke, co‑creator of the series The Boys, told Variety that the spin‑off Vought Rising was designed to be a perfect entry point for those who are not yet familiar with the satirical superhero universe. According to him, you don’t need to watch the original series to understand the plot that features Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, which he highlighted as an invitation for new viewers.
The creator also noted that the latest episodes of The Boys contain references that serve as a bridge to the prequel, including the possibility of a special appearance. Kripke explained that the goal was to create an independent story that, at the same time, gets the audience excited about the new production without making the original series mandatory for understanding.
Set in the 1950s, Vought Rising presents a different origin for Vought International’s superhero team, centered around a mysterious murder. Aya Cash will return as Stormfront, while Ackles will play the father of Captain America, a role that will be taken over by Antony Starr in the main series. The premiere is scheduled for the end of this year or early 2027, with a confirmed release on Prime Video. An official date will be announced soon.
