The Boys: Season 5 Reveals New Powers and the Rise of Ashley Barrett

The fifth and final season of *The Boys* arrived on Prime Video and, already in the first two episodes, the writers answered one of fans’ most burning questions: what happened to Ashley Barrett after she injected herself with Compound V? At the end of the fourth season, Ashley, desperate after discovering Captain America’s plan to eliminate all humans near Vought, decided to use the substance on herself. Now, in the new phase of the series, she not only survived but holds the Vice Presidency of the United States, displaying an initial telepathy ability that allows her to read minds and anticipate remarks, as shown in the early press interviews.

However, Ashley’s power goes far beyond simple mind reading. In the second episode, the series reveals a grotesque mutation: a second face appears at the back of her head, hidden under the wig. This extra face functions as a separate consciousness, commenting on her actions and exposing intimate thoughts in a disturbing way. Despite her new ability, Ashley meets resistance in Sister Wise, whose superhuman intelligence makes her immune to mind reading, creating a new point of tension between the two characters.

Meanwhile, the global landscape is plunged into chaos under Captain America’s authoritarian rule. Hughie, Mother’s Milk and Frenchie face extreme dangers, Annie leads a resistance against the Supers, and the mystery of Kimiko’s whereabouts remains unsolved. Billy Butcher’s return, now armed with a virus capable of eradicating all Supers, promises to drive the plot toward a conclusion with irreversible consequences. The main cast – Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty and Jessie T. Usher – returns to close the acclaimed satire that captured audiences.
