Brendan Fraser visits Universal Studios and announces return in ‘The Mummy 4’

Even before the cameras started rolling, star Brendan Fraser had already taken the first step in promoting “The Mummy 4”. The actor was seen strolling around Universal Studios Hollywood accompanied by directors Matt Bettinelli‑Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are responsible for the new production. During the visit, the trio enjoyed the franchise‑themed attraction, posting the moment on Universal’s official social media accounts.

The post highlighted that Fraser returns to the iconic role of Rick O’Connell, exactly 18 years after his last appearance in the saga.

Filming is scheduled to begin in August, with a release set for May 19, 2028. The confirmed cast includes, besides Fraser, Rachel Weisz reprising Evelyn O’Connell, and John Hannah returning as Jonathan Carnahan. Direction falls to the duo known as Radio Silence, who previously helmed “Scream 5”, “Scream 6” and “Blood Wedding 2”. The script, written by David Coggeshall, promises to follow the tone of the first two movies in the series, ignoring the events of “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” (2008).

The production also features the return of Sean Daniel, producer of the original trilogy, and the support of William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein, through Project X Entertainment. The film is already available for preview on Prime Video, while fans eagerly await the next chapter of the archaeological adventure.
