At the CinemaCon edition, Sony showed the first glimpse of the highly anticipated Resident Evil reboot, directed by Zach Cregger. The film, which arrives in theaters on September 18, promises a darker atmosphere and distances itself from the games’ narratives, presenting an original story. The protagonist, Bryan (played by Austin Abrams), is a delivery driver who finds himself trapped amid a viral outbreak inside a hospital in Raccoon City, triggering a series of frantic escapes and zombie confrontations.
The trailer alternates tense scenes: a man walking in the snow to a house door, a call that lands in the mailbox, a dash to a barn where he finds weapons and a corpse, and a showdown in a sewer surrounded by bodies. The sequence culminates with Bryan locking zombies in a room and running through streets where bodies fall from skyscrapers onto parked vehicles.
The cast brings together names such as Paul Walter Hauser, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Johnno Wilson, while the screenplay includes the collaboration of Shay Hatten, known for his work on “John Wick: Chapter 3.”
Get ready for a film that blends intense terror and unexpected humor, giving a fresh face to the iconic Resident Evil universe.
