Prequel of ‘The Hour of Evil’ — ‘Gladys’ set for release on September 8, 2028

During CinemaCon 2026, Warner Bros. revealed that the prequel of ‘The Hour of Evil’, titled ‘Gladys’, will hit theaters on September 8, 2028. The script is by Zach Cregger and Zach Shields, while production includes Cregger, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. Cregger is represented by CAA, Artists First, Karl Austen and Michael Auerbach. The original film grossed over $270 million worldwide, and Amy Madigan, who played the antagonist Aunt Gladys, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress and a SAG award for her performance. Madigan praised the character’s strength, highlighting her determination. The material that had been cut from the feature, focused on Gladys’s past, will be expanded to form this new film. Meanwhile, Cregger is moving forward with pre‑production of an ambitious reboot of ‘Resident Evil’ for Sony, slated for September 2026.
