The franchise, created in 2003 by Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games studios, began as a first‑person shooter set in World War II and quickly expanded to become one of the biggest successes in the gaming industry. Recently, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, remarked that the popularity of the games does not obligate the creation of adaptations in other media, but projects like this can bring new creative perspectives when well executed. Paramount’s director has not yet revealed the cast or the director, but promised more news in the coming months.
