According to Deadline, actors Anthony Mackie, known for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, and Dafne Keen, from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, have been cast to star in the new thriller ‘Barracuda’. Filming has already begun in New Mexico, United States, under the direction of Neil Burger, responsible for ‘Divergent’. The script was handled by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes, while the cast also includes Steven Bauer, from ‘Ray Donovan’, and Anthony Del Negro, from ‘The Lady of the Ball’.
In the story, Karl (played by Mackie) is a former smuggler with a dark past who storms a nightclub in Mexico to free Jodie (Keen), a kidnapped teenager. What begins as a rescue triggers a sequence of gunfights that stretches across 160 km of dangerous roads toward the American border. Amid the chaos, Karl eliminates the nightclub owner’s brother and takes a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda, turning the escape into a hallucinogenic desert chase.
Now pursued by relentless criminals, Karl and Jodie must cross the desert without stopping, while tension rises with each kilometer traveled. The film features executive production by Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis, alongside Isaac Lilly, Mark Holder, Christine Holder, Bryan Coyne, Kyle Fox and Walter Josten. No further details about the release date or other production information have been disclosed yet.
