Lionsgate released a new excerpt of ‘Beast’, the sports drama that brings together Daniel MacPherson, Luke Hemsworth and Russell Crowe. The story follows a former MMA champion who, after years away from the Octagon, is forced to return to action when his younger brother finds himself in danger. Determined to protect his family, he seeks out his former trainer — the man who turned him into a legend — and takes on the biggest challenge of his career: facing the current belt holder, a relentless warrior who wants to erase the veteran’s legacy. The final battle puts everything at stake: the glory or the ruin of everything he has built.
The script was co‑written by Russell Crowe and David Frigerio, under the direction of Tyler Atkins. Filming took place in Sydney, Port Kembla and, surprisingly, during a live ONE Championship event in Bangkok, in front of an audience of 10,000 fans. Kelly Rogers, CEO of Rialto Distribution, told Variety that the North American theatrical release is slated for April 10 and that the film promises to deliver “intense and electrifying action” with a heavyweight cast. Producer John Schwarz of Deeper Water Films added that the intention has always been to create a bold, authentic, and visceral cinematic experience, highlighting Atkins’ ability to balance emotion and epic combat sequences.
