Rockstar Games, responsible for the GTA series, disclosed that its systems were targeted by a cyber attack carried out by the group known as ShinyHunters. The incident, which occurred on April 11, 2026, resulted in the exposure of some internal documents, such as financial data and contracts with partners, but the company assured that no user personal information or game source code was compromised.
According to the official statement, the breach occurred in a third‑party service, limiting the scope of the intrusion to non‑sensitive corporate information. The hacker group demanded a ransom with a deadline of April 14, but Rockstar chose not to meet the demand and reinforced security measures to prevent further incidents.
The developer emphasized that the development of GTA VI remains on schedule, with no delays or changes to the budget, which already exceeds $2 billion. Rockstar also highlighted that the integrity of player data remains intact, minimizing the impact of the attack on the gaming community.
