Director Dario Scardapane, responsible for the new phase of ‘Daredevil: Reborn’, gave an interview to the CBR portal to reveal the guiding lines that will shape the series in the future. According to the showrunner, the core proposal is to keep Matt Murdock firmly tied to his urban environment, avoiding incursions into parallel realities or cosmic adventures. “My passion lies in the crime, mystery and noir atmosphere that New York City offers,” Scardapane said, preferring to explore the more visceral and earthbound side of the character rather than inserting him into multiverse plots.
He reinforced that the hero must remain a human vigilante, whose battles are fought on the dirty streets and in the metropolis’s courts. “I don’t want to put Daredevil on another planet; he has to always be part of the city that shaped him,” he added. This vision sparked different reactions among the cast: Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays the Kingpin, showed enthusiasm for the idea of experimenting with alternate versions of his villain, while Charlie Cox, who portrays Matt Murdock, warned about the risk of diluting the story’s dramatic weight by introducing elements such as omnipotence or immortality.
Despite the resistance to the multiverse, Scardapane does not rule out revisiting the past of the main antagonists. He suggested a possible prelude that would place Murdock and Fisk in the Lower East Side in the late ’60s or early ’70s, exploring the rise of the criminal empire while the future lawyer begins his investigative career.
‘Daredevil: Reborn’ remains available on Disney+, following the fight of Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who uses his heightened senses to combat injustice both in the courts and in the city’s shadows, while Wilson Fisk advances in his ambitious political trajectory.
