Warner Bros. released the full roster of actors who will star in the next film of the “Lord of the Rings” saga, titled “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum”. Andy Serkis, who previously portrayed Gollum in the earlier trilogies, also takes on directing the production. Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf, while Kate Winslet has been cast in the role of Marigol, a brand‑new character created for the script. Jamie Dornan will appear as Strider, Leo Woodall as Halvard, Lee Pace as Thranduil and, of course, Elijah Wood reprises the iconic Frodo Baggins.
The film is set in a period not yet explored in the previous movies, focusing on the pursuit of Gollum shortly after his escape from the Dark Mountains. According to Tolkien’s appendices, Gandalf suspects the creature knows the location of the One Ring and tasks Aragorn with tracking him down before Sauron’s forces find him.
The release is slated for December 17, 2027, promising to take audiences to new lands of Middle‑earth and reveal secrets still hidden in the books. Get ready, fans: the journey is about to begin again.
