Former ‘The Little Rascals’ Star Detained in Ohio for Failing to Appear at Court Hearing

The former child actor Brandon “Bug” Hall, who played Alfalfa in ‘The Little Rascals’ (1994), was taken into custody this Tuesday in the state of Ohio. The detention occurred because Hall failed to appear at a hearing scheduled for December 31, 2024, related to an October traffic violation of the same year, when he was fined for driving without the required insurance.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the actor has already been released and is not in custody. Hall left acting after an incident in 2020, when he was arrested in Texas on suspicion of inhaling compressed air canister gas. At the time, he was cited for possession of the substance, although he faced no formal charges.

Today, Bug Hall lives far from the spotlight. Married since 2017 and father of five children, he has taken a “vow of poverty” and moved with his family to an 80‑acre farm near Mountain View, Arkansas. There, he built his own house, homeschooled his children, and follows a radical Catholic philosophy, as he explained in a YouTube video titled “Into the Unknown” (April 2025).

In recent statements, Hall said he gave up acting because he could not reconcile his faith with the entertainment industry. He donated most of his assets, rejects formal education for his children, and promotes a self‑sustaining lifestyle, away from the traditional system.
