At the 2026 Cinema Con edition, Warner Bros. announced the creation of its latest label, Clockwork, dedicated to “low‑budget productions with creative marketing strategies”. The first title to emerge from this new studio will be “I LOVE YOU”, directed by Sean Baker, a four‑Oscar winner for “Anora”. Although it does not yet have an official release date, the feature is slated to hit theaters in 2027. Baker had already spoken about the project, which will take place in Italy and will be a tribute to Italian sexual comedies of the 1960s and 70s, describing it as “a love letter” to that country’s cinema. Even after critical acclaim and awards, the director reaffirmed his commitment to independent cinema, stating that he prefers to retain full creative autonomy despite offers from major studios. He noted that, although he would love to work again with Neon in the U.S., he chose to produce independently in order to control every aspect of the work, from casting to content, without having to answer to anyone. This decision highlights Baker’s pursuit of artistic freedom, even in the face of opportunities offered by major industry players.
