The series Heated Rivalry has been confirmed for a second season that will adopt a more mature tone, according to showrunner Jacob Tierney, who revealed details during the BookCon panel in New York, alongside author Rachel Reid.
New Narrative Paths
Tierney explained that the new phase of production will deepen the relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, following the development presented in the first season. “It’s different. It really will be different,” the creator said, highlighting that the youthful vibe and constant risk that marked the initial story give way to more serious issues.
Adaptation of “The Long Game” and “Role Model”
The second season will follow the romance from Rachel Reid’s novel The Long Game, exploring the challenges of maintaining a relationship when the initial tension fades. The showrunner added that the couple remains the core of the series, even as the surrounding universe expands.
Additionally, Tierney confirmed that the production will also incorporate the fifth volume of the saga, Role Model, which introduces the character Troy, transferred to the Ottawa Centaurs team, led by Ilya. The script aims to deepen Troy’s troubled personality as described in the book.
