## James Gunn celebrates the historic date
On April 18, DC Studios co‑president **James Gunn** used X (formerly Twitter) to honor the 88th anniversary of **Superman** and **Lois Lane**. In his post, the director recalled the iconic duo’s debut in the comics, highlighting the characters’ lasting significance.
## First flight of the duo in 1938
Gunn wrote:
> “Happy birthday to Superman and Lois Lane! They save the world and tell their stories since 1938, with no plans to stop. Their first appearance was in **ACTION COMICS #1**, created by Jerry Siegel (writer) and Joe Shuster (artist).”
## Superman in today’s cinema
The new phase of the franchise introduces **David Corenswet** as the Man of Steel and **Rachel Brosnahan** as the fearless reporter of the *Daily Planet*. The film **Superman**, which launched this reboot, is already available to **HBO Max** subscribers.
## Next chapter on the big screen
The story will continue with the feature film **Man of Tomorrow**, scheduled to reach Brazilian cinemas on **July 8, 2027**.
