The *Deadly Class* series arrived on Netflix’s catalog, but, to the frustration of many fans, it was discontinued after only one season. The decision came from the Syfy channel, which claimed that the production did not achieve the expected financial return, despite viewership numbers considered reasonable. According to Deadline, the main obstacle was the high production cost, as the network did not have full control over the project, which was developed in partnership with Sony Pictures Television. Sony tried to negotiate continuation with other networks, but was unsuccessful, leaving the story without a conclusion.
Based on the graphic novel by Rick Remender and Wes Craig, the series was directed by the Russo brothers – known for *Avengers: Endgame* – and follows Marcus, a young man recruited by a secret school that trains assassins. The setting blends action and drama, inspired by 1980s culture. The cast includes Benedict Wong (*Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness*), Benjamin Wadsworth (*Teen Wolf*), and Lana Condor (*To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before*).
The cancellation left several narrative arcs unresolved, such as the fate of Marcus and Maria, as well as other secondary storylines that were not concluded. Without a second season, the only way to follow the complete story is to read the original comics. In the meantime, the first and only season of *Deadly Class* remains available for streaming on Netflix.
