The fifth and final season of Prime Video’s satirical superhero series is about to deliver one of the most anticipated crossovers by fans. Jared Padalecki, who became known as Sam Winchester in ‘Supernatural’, revealed that he will portray the character Mister Marathon, the speedster who preceded A‑Train in the Seven. In an interview with ScreenRant, the actor joked about the secrecy surrounding the filming, which took place in April 2025, saying he feared Jeff Bezos would send a SWAT team to stop him from speaking.
Although the runner’s name has already been mentioned in previous seasons, this will be his first physical appearance in the storyline. Unlike the comic version, where the character meets a tragic end at the hands of Homelander, in the series he remains alive and is set to interact with Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles – another ‘Supernatural’ veteran. Creator Eric Kripke warned that the new characters will not be conventional heroes: “They show up in episode 5 as complete idiots, and that makes everything even more fun.”
While Padalecki’s presence is confirmed, Misha Collins’s role remains speculative, with rumors suggesting he could play an old “Supe” from Vought’s golden era. The final season brings back the main cast – Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty and Jessie T. Usher – and promises to close the story amid a chaotic setting dominated by Homelander. Hughie, Leighton and Frenchie will continue facing extreme dangers, Annie will lead the resistance against the Supes, and the mystery surrounding Kimiko’s fate still persists. The return of Billy Butcher, now armed with a virus capable of eradicating all Supes, signals a conclusion with major consequences for the series.
