Warner Bros. has just announced the official name of the highly anticipated film production based on the Game of Thrones universe. The feature will be titled **Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest** and the announcement was made during the company’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday night (the 14th).
The plot is expected to follow Aegon I Targaryen, the founder of the dragon dynasty, as he leads the unification of Westeros, an event that predates both the original series and the prequel House of the Dragon. The conquest, carried out with the support of his sister‑wives Rhaenys and Visenya, resulted in the subjugation of six of the seven kingdoms, leaving Dorne as the only region that held out longer.
The screenplay will be handled by Beau Willimon, known for his work on *House of Cards* and the series *Andor*. Although a release date has not yet been set, the production promises to explore an era sparsely covered in George R. R. Martin’s books, offering fans a new perspective on the origin of the Targaryen empire.
With eight seasons aired by HBO, *Game of Thrones* has become one of television’s biggest successes, amassing awards and a global fan base. The new film aims to further expand this legacy, bringing the epic story of Westeros’s first conquest to the screen.
