Euphoria Keeps Fezco Alive in the Third Season as a Tribute to Actor Angus Cloud

The new phase of Euphoria will reveal that Fezco, played by Angus Cloud, remains present in the storyline, despite the tragic loss of the actor in 2023. The open‑ended finale of the second season left the character’s future in doubt after a violent police operation, but creator Sam Levinson assured that Fez still exists in the series’ universe, even if he does not appear physically.

In an interview with Variety, Levinson explained the choice: “Many scenes show characters talking to him on the phone. If I can’t keep him alive in reality, at least I can preserve him within the story I control.” The decision also serves as a tribute to the actor, who died at 25 from an overdose, a few days after burying his father. “It’s a way to honor him,” Levinson declared.
The third season, which will be the last, jumps five years forward. Rue (Zendaya) is in Mexico, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) are married living in the suburbs, and Jules (Hunter Schafer) attends an art school. HBO announced the addition of new names to the cast, such as Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne and Eli Roth, further expanding the series’ landscape.
Levinson promised that Fez’s journey will have lighter moments, with the character “laughing a lot at his own story.” The premiere is set for April 12, and the first two seasons are already available to stream on HBO Max.
