Even before the cameras started rolling, star Brendan Fraser had already taken the first step in promoting “The Mummy 4”. The actor was spotted strolling around Universal Studios Hollywood accompanied by directors Matt Bettinelli‑Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are helming the new production. During the visit, the trio enjoyed the franchise‑themed attraction, posting the moment on Universal’s official social media accounts.
The post highlighted that Fraser is returning to the iconic role of Rick O’Connell, exactly 18 years after his last appearance in the saga.
Filming is slated to begin in August, with a release set for May 19, 2028. The confirmed cast includes, besides Fraser, Rachel Weisz reprising Evelyn O’Connell, and John Hannah returning as Jonathan Carnahan. Direction falls to the duo known as Radio Silence, who previously helmed “Scream 5”, “Scream 6” and “Blood Wedding 2”. The screenplay, written by David Coggeshall, promises to follow the tone of the first two films in the series, disregarding the events of “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” (2008).
The production also features the return of Sean Daniel, producer of the original trilogy, and the backing of William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein through Project X Entertainment. The film is already available for review on Prime Video, while fans eagerly await the next chapter of the archaeological adventure.
