Amazon MGM promises 15 new annual film releases

After the blockbuster success of *Star Eaters* (2026) and with expectations high for *Masters of the Universe* (2026), Amazon MGM announced an ambitious plan: to produce and screen, at least, fifteen movies per year in cinemas. In the program presentation at CinemaCon, the division’s president, Mike Hopkins, stated that the company is committed to fully utilizing the annual $1 billion budget allocated for film production.

“Some competitors have tested alternative formats, but for us it is not an experiment. Our goal of bringing at least fifteen titles to audiences on the big screen remains firmly on schedule,” Hopkins declared.

The theatrical distribution director, Kevin Wilson, reinforced the company’s vision, emphasizing that the projects in development aim to draw audiences back to theaters: “We are developing large‑scale films, with the ambition to provide compelling reasons for people to leave their homes and go to the movies.”

The *Masters of the Universe* reboot is scheduled to premiere in Brazil on June 4, while Amazon MGM continues to work on heavyweight franchises such as 007 and *Highlander*. Another title on the slate, *S.O.S. – There’s a Crazy Person Loose in Space 2*, hits screens in April 2027, further expanding the company’s catalog.
