According to information from Daniel Ritchman, production of the third installment of the Gremlins saga is moving into the casting phase, and the first offer is said to have already been sent. Warner Bros. Pictures, in partnership with Amblin Entertainment, is reportedly interested in casting Jenna Ortega in the lead role, although there is no official confirmation of the actress’s response yet. Ortega, who has already shown affection for the franchise by saying in 2023 that “she loved Gremlins as a child” and that she would be happy to be part of a new film, has not yet publicly commented on the offer.
The project is directed by Chris Columbus, the writer of the original film, while Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for “Premonition: Blood Ties”, are handling the screenplay. The release date is set for November 19, 2027.
