## First minutes revealed at CinemaCon 2026
During this year’s edition of CinemaCon, Disney showed an exclusive snippet of the *Ice Age* sequel, titled **Ice Age: Boiling Point**. The clip features, as usual, the squirrel Scrat, but this time he appears accompanied by a baby, kicking off the action with a battle over an object resembling a pacifier.
## A new era of fire and volcanoes
The plot promises to abandon the traditional icy landscape and introduce a setting dominated by lava and eruptions. When Scrat tries to bury the “pacifier” in the ice, a lava fissure opens, causing him and the baby to fall into a deep chasm. Then we are transported to the **Lost World**, where the object turns to ash and Scrat hurls it at a T‑Rex fossil, which spews a jet of fire that hits the squirrel.
## Return of the main characters
At the end of the sequence, Manny, Sid, Diego and Ellie arrive at the Lost World and watch the horizon ablaze. The original cast returns to the project: John Leguizamo (voice of Sid), Denis Leary and Simon Pegg remain in the roles of Sid, Diego and Sid, respectively.
## Production and release date
Scrat’s creator, Brazilian director Carlos Saldanha, will not be involved in this new installment, as confirmed by CinePOP. Disney, which acquired 20th Century Studios, holds all the franchise rights and can steer the saga as it wishes. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on **February 5, 2027**.
